The diagram in Activity 6 is an university lecturer who is explaining the way how the research process is carried out.
First, students are required to get the sources of research ideas from the previous research, personal experiences or curiosity. All this information is needed to prepare the statement of research question.
Once the statement was prepared, students then start to design the research methodology. As different research methods might have different research results, therefore students should have a better understanding on what are their research objectives. For examples, they might require to identify readership for a novel or to find out the price of it, etc.
Following this, students should decide which research method will be used for obtaining these data. How is the data collect – by questionnaire, phone interview, survey or observation? The budget is also one of key factors to decide what type of research methodology will be chosen. Next, data analysis is a very critical step in the research process. Students are required to filter out those irrelevant data and analyze all the collected data.
After that, an analytical summary is required. It helps the reader to understand the conclusion of the research. Finally, it is most important for the students to provide recommendations and implications on the research findings.
